Microsoft Mouse

The Microsoft Mouse is a computer mouse released by Microsoft. On May 2, 1983 – Microsoft introduced the Microsoft Mouse for IBM PCs and compatibles. It is the first mouse released by the company, and it was bundled with Microsoft Word, Notepad, and an on-screen teaching tutorial for an initial price of $195. The Microsoft Mouse is historically important as it was one of Microsoft’s earliest hardware products (The other being an Apple II Z-80 CP/M card). The first Mouse for the IBM PC was actually from Mouse Systems, not Microsoft. However, most clone mice emulated Microsoft’s serial protocol and DOS driver software interface. The first application designed to make full use of the mouse was Microsoft Word for DOS.

Microsoft Windows 3.00.RC 6

Windows 3.0 Release Candidate 6 is a pre-release version of Microsoft Windows 3.0 from 7th March 1990. It became available on BetaArchive on 2nd June 2015. It was found in old warez archives labeled as “production release” (or simply RTM), but it is about month or two older than the RTM build. It also has several file differences from the final release.

Microsoft Windows 3.00.55 Beta

At this point, the product was nearly finished in terms of features and overall usability, and aside from major memory improvements over Windows 2.x, would also include a completely redesigned graphical user interface, namely the Program and File Manager to replace the MS-DOS Executive seen in previous versions of Windows.

A personal computer magazine, InfoWorld, has a full article demonstrating a version of Microsoft Windows 3.0 from this time period in an issue from January 1990.

This version should be installed on a machine running MS-DOS 4.0, IBM DOS 4.0, or Compaq DOS 3.31 in order to take advantage of the new features available in this version of Windows.

Microsoft Windows 3.00.33 Beta

Windows 3.00.33 is a beta build of Windows 3.0. Microsoft Windows 3.00.33 Beta was mentioned in an internal Microsoft anti-trust document from August 1989. Microsoft Windows 3.00.33 was uploaded by Term24 on the Internet archive on Sept 23, 2003. Microsoft Windows 3.00.33 came with 10 floppy disks including a software development kit. Windows 3.00.33 is missing Setup so you need to install it manually to the C:\WINDOWS folder to get Windows 3.00.33 working. To do this you need to copy all files on the floppy disk to C:\WINDOWS and type WIN.

It can only run on a 386 or better machine with a specific version of DOS, as not using the correct version will cause Windows to either crash, or refuse to launch the shell.
