Part 3: Of Microsoft Application Series For DOS. In Mid 1983 Microsoft release Microsoft Chart For DOS. Microsoft Chart is a presentation graphics tool. You can use it to create line, bar, pie charts and more. It competed against titles such as PFS Graph, Chart Master, DR Graph, Harvard Presentation Graphics, and BPS Business Graphics. It was sometimes sold as a companion product to Multiplan.

My Problem with BetaArchive

This my continuation of BetaArchive Rant. me telling my story from betaArchive Member revision. Try Join BetaArchive FTP Member club BetaArchive would not accept my Software for entry  FTP Member club. They said Contribute i Contribute my software they would not accept my software for their FTP Server. I’m not FTP Member because that. I wrote over 200 Post for BetaArchive i still not FTP Member.  I Contribute my Software i still not FTP Member. Their is some people in BetaArchive who wrote 3 post and Contribute  their software and automatic they in FTP Member Group. Because of that my not OFFER my software to BetaArchive. Now i’m OFFER my software on WinWorld.   Which i’m member WinWorld. I been a member of WinWorld for 5 Years. Now i finding a lot software and Contribute to WinWorld.  Now i do not need BetaArchive Secret FTP Server to find software are becoming FTP Member. I bless with Software i have and i will find more software in future.

Microsoft Programs from 1982-1983

I Microsoft make a lot programs back in day i never heard before. These unheard Microsoft Product title is Microsoft Budget, Microsoft Cash Plan, Microsoft File, Microsoft M/SORT, Microsoft Financial Statements Analysis, Microsoft Business Basic Compiler, Microsoft Time Manager. Some of them was Microsoft Multi Tool name like Microsoft Budget, and Microsoft Cash Plan. I try search online to find out these Microsoft old products they me no answer. WinWorld post ebay listing these item now they as been sold.

Reasonably i find Microsoft MuMath it is was CPM Software i did not find MS-DOS Version yet and Microsoft MuLisp yes is MS-DOS Software. I currency looking and hunting down these old Microsoft program from 1982-1983 timeline.

Part 2: Microsoft Word For DOS

Part 2 of Microsoft Application Series:  Microsoft Word For DOS is a sequel 1982 Microsoft Multiplan. Microsoft Word For DOS created by Charles Simonyi and Richard Brodie in 1983. It was first released on October 25, 1983 for Microsoft Xenix and then  Microsoft DOS under the name Multi-Tool Word.  

In 1981, Microsoft hired Charles Simonyi is the primary developer of Bravo, the first GUI word processor, which was developed at Xerox PARC. Simonyi started work on a word processor called Multi-Tool Word and soon hired Richard Brodie, a former Xerox intern, who became the primary software engineer

Microsoft Word 1.00 For DOS Diskette.


Its name was soon simplified to Microsoft Word. Free demonstration copies of the application were bundled with the November 1983 issue of PC World, making it the first to be distributed on-disk with a magazine. That year Microsoft demonstrated Word running on Early of Windows was named Interface Manager than to Windows

Microsoft have Word for DOS running on Microsoft Interface Manager. The version on Interface Manager is different on DOS Version of Word it have different Commands. We don’t know this is Mockup of the Build or Real Build of Windows 1.00.  do only Microsoft have Word on Interface Manager also have Microsoft Multiplan and Microsoft Chart running on Interface Manager

Microsoft Word for DOS is “WYSIWYG” (What You See Is What You Get) environment. Microsoft Word for DOS was heavily promoted as “WYSIWYG”, although its limited on-screen formatting made that a bit of a joke. Microsoft Word for DOS can be Mouse this Microsoft Mouse come in. Microsoft Mouse what got do with Microsoft Word For DOS. Microsoft Word For DOS that it was often bundled with a Microsoft Mouse.

The first Microsoft Mouse include a Microsoft Word, Microsoft Notepad and Microsoft Mouse Teaching Tutorial Program for an initial price of $195 . The first Microsoft Mouse was release May 1983.

Microsoft Notepad For DOS is in fact a scaled down version of Word for DOS.On a CGA compatible display it runs in graphical mode. On a mono text or mono graphics adapter it will run in text mode.

Notepad is a simple ASCII text editor. You can use the mouse to select, copy, and paste text, and select items from the menu. It also has built in help.Notepad for DOS is similar to Microsoft Word for DOS 1.x. Notepad, however, can not create formatted text, only plain text.


In Microsoft Word For DOS you will notice that menu at the Bottom of Screen. The interface wasn’t been change Microsoft Multiplan. Microsoft will continue with Microsoft  Product like Microsoft Chart, Microsoft Interface Manager, Microsoft File, Microsoft Access BIA, and Microsoft Project. They with replace Multiplan like Interface with MAC and Windows like Interface in Late 1980s.

Initially it competed against many popular word processors such as WordStarMultimate, and WordPerfect. Word for DOS. Microsoft Word For DOS was modest success story like Microsoft Multiplan with Beverly made dent with completer like Wordstar. Microsoft their revenge on Wordperfect  went Microsoft Word for Windows became successful and The rest was History.
